The SS Grace is a sweet, tender, inspirational love story. It is short but it packs a lot into the few pages.

Savannah and Austin Dodson are taking a cruise. They have been married for almost three years and have never had a proper honeymoon. This cruise is supposed to be that romantic trip, but it begins on the wrong note when Austin spends money for hunting equipment that makes Savannah downsize their suite into a tiny cabin. There is a lot of resentment and anger in the cabin with them. It doesn’t take long for Austin to tell Savannah that he feels their marriage isn’t working out.

Betsy Ann St. Amant has written a story that is unfortunately a reality for many. She examines the dynamics of a modern marriage. The SS Grace is a poignant reminder that sometimes love isn’t enough to sustain a marriage. For many there must be other things too, such as grace. The characters in this story were well written and realistic. It was easy to feel their emotions as they struggled with the crises in their relationship. The author didn’t gloss over the troubles the two were having. This was a pleasant, quick read, with an ending that is emotionally satisfying!

If Wishes Were Dog Biscuits is a short, sweet tale about something lost—and found. When Bailey Sinclair’s dog, Chevy goes missing, she, her family and her best friend, Luke Pierson, search the neighborhood on a hail-soaked night to no avail. Finally they make signs and Luke and Bailey post them everywhere, hoping Chevy will be returned. Several times during the ordeal Bailey prays, but her prayers seem to go unanswered. When she and Luke pray together, things begin to happen.

Betsy Ann St. Amant’s If Wishes Were Dog Biscuits is a warm, tender story that examines relationships in life—with family, friends, pets and God. Without being preachy, this book imparts a clear message. The characters are compassionate and endearing and their search for this beloved dog tore at my heartstrings. I was with them every step of the way in their search, hoping they found what they so desperately searched for. And that is the best part of this story, I think. It makes the reader care what happens to the characters. This is a highly enjoyable, quick read!
